Quality Assurance and Special Projects Manager


Main Purpose and Duties of the Position



Location: Institute of Creativity and Innovation, China


Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week


Grade: Grade 8


Reports to: Associate Dean, Institute of Creativity and Innovation

Summary of Main Job Purpose:


The incumbent will be a key member of the administrative team of the Institute of Creativity and Innovation (ICI), leading all quality efforts, providing expertise in UK Higher Education standards and quality codes, facilitating pedagogical development, and managing special projects. The role also involves assisting the associate dean and subject leads in carrying out on-going curriculum development and review, and undertaking a range of administrative responsibilities.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

Quality Assurance

·         Organise all University for the Creative Arts (UCA) quality assurance related activities at the Institute of Creativity and Innovation (ICI), in collaboration with UCA and Xiamen University (XMU) staff, as necessary.

·         Ensure that assessments are carried out according to UCA policies, that grades are internally and externally validated, and that grades are entered into UCA’s system within agreed to times frames.

·         Prepare and deliver seminars on the UK Higher Education Frameworks and Quality Code, and on UCA’s pedagogical principles.

·         Facilitate ICI pedagogy and assessment normalizing meetings.

·         Support subject leads by acting as recording secretary for course boards.

·         Act as ICI’s central source of expertise and knowledge related to all quality assurance matters.

·         Provide a strong linkage between UCA’s quality assurance department and ICI.

·         Minimize the duplication of effort required to fulfil quality monitoring requirements for UCA and XMU.


Project Work

·         Undertake project work as allocated by the Associate Dean of ICI, which may include:

o   research and analysis,

o   report writing, documentation, and communication,

o   risk identification and mitigation,

o   project staging, timing, and co-ordination,

o   building relationships and communication strategies to ensure project dependencies are effectively met.


Other Duties
