Head of Operations – Malvern International PLC

Location: UK, preferrably London and Manchester 
Reports to: the Group CEO   

Overall responsibility:

The Head of Operations is self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business profit. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with senior company executives. Reliable, tolerant, and determined. Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view. Flexible to travel up to a few days a month within the UK. Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability. 

The Head of Operations is tasked to oversee the daily business activities through General Managers, improving overall business functions, training heads of departments, managing budgets, developing strategic plans, creating policies and communicating business goals. 

General tasks:  

  • Improve and standardise operational processes across Malvern entities 
  • Provide leadership support to each Malvern entity to ensure optimisation of resources and budget allocated
  • Daily communication with General mangers and ensuring each operation is working to its best potential
  • Take active part in bringing in and implementing innovations in customer service, operations, processes and education delivery
  • Ensure an outstanding quality of customer service is delivered in each entity
  • Close supervision in making sure each outlet meets its local regulatory requirements and following best practices 
  • Oversee the implementation of the IT systems; implement new automated processes 
  • Align Malvern group policies 
  • Support the Global Head of Sales in marketing strategies and implementations 
  • Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, performance management and retention of staff 
  • Oversee employee productivity; set expectations to General Managers; manage and provide support
  • Create an organisational culture in which every employee take responsibility for the balance sheet
  • Manage contracts and relations with customers, partners and other stakeholders 
  • Collaborate with CEO on three- and five- year plans for corporate growth and evolution 
  • Assist the Finance Director with financial projections and analysis of existing programmes and policies 

Strategic tasks: 

  • Implement new initiatives introduced by the group 
  • Plan for new campuses when it is financially optimal and strategically accepted  
  • Plan and work on new products and partnerships to increase the offering and diversify the risk  
  • Explore opportunities for expansion in the region  
  • Improve the products to a level that it can attract more clients  
  • Successfully manage the cash-flow for day to day operation 
  • Manage budget and maintaining the required revenue and profitability  

Skills and experience required: 

  • 5+ years in executive leadership position 
  • A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics 
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues 
  • International business experience 
  • Broad knowledge of EFL and higher education markets 
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills 
  • Excellent leadership and organisational skills
