International House London is seeking a Head of Younger Learners to drive forward the expansion of our provision to a least double the size of our business within three years.  You will need to be commercially-minded, delivering modern high-quality programmes that are market-leading, whilst having the educational understanding to ensure the delivery of an academically rigorous curriculum.

We currently run growing summer centres in Shropshire, Oxford and London, as well as a spring programme in Oxford. The centres are accredited by the Accreditation UK (British Council) scheme and EAQUALS.

Specifically you will:

  • Maximise customer satisfaction and income from our existing centres.
  • Seek out locations for new summer schools, developing business plans for sign off by the Senior Management Team.
  • Work with academic colleagues to ensure a programme that is both fun and achieves students’ learning goals.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Implement the young learners’ growth strategy, seeking new venues, negotiating contracts and developing business plans.
  2. Oversee centres during operational periods including (but not limited to): recruitment and training of staff, ensuring centres continually surpass EAQUALS and Accreditation UK standards whilst maintaining agreed gross profit targets.
  3. Work with the Director of Education, our designated safeguarding lead, to maintain a safe environment.
  4. Ensure the delivery of a proactive and efficient post-sales service for Young Learner bookings.

Main Duties      

  • Ensure all preparations for the operational periods are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure all due diligence is conducted at centres pre-summer, during and post-summer.
  • Proactively line-manage the Centre Managers, visiting centres during operational periods.
  • Seek out suppliers, developing good and commercially advantageous relationships.
  • To be the emergency contact during operational periods, including out of normal working hours.
  • Manage any challenges arising at operational centres by keeping mindful of both commercial and client-relationship needs.
  • Project management of any out-of-season groups or YL programmes operating at IH London from bookings through to operation and post-sales.
  • Meet regularly with key stakeholders within the organisation to seek improvement to all aspects of service provision, contributing to process mapping exercises and deliver any change in processes or agreed new products.
  • Attendance at Young Learner related sales events, including overseas, to proactively sell the programme.
  • Assist in the development of new programmes.
  • Production of new packages with the Director of Sales and Marketing for franchise purposes.
  • Any other appropriate duties that may be required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The following are essential:


Education

  • Degree
  • Safeguarding course, ‘child protection level 3’ or equivalent

Experience and knowledge:

  • Managing large-scale summer school operations
  • Strong team management
  • Budgeting and cost management
  • Business planning
  • CRM systems including inputting bookings, creating and running reports, analysing data and maintaining the accuracy of records.
  • Managing change
  • Microsoft Excel (intermediate – advanced), Word and PowerPoint
  • English at minimum C1 level

The following are desirable:
