The impact of the Marketing Manager (New Launches)

Our organisation is experiencing rapid growth, and this means that we need an experienced Marketing Manager to define and help deliver new initiatives, then smoothly hand them over to operational marketing teams as Business As Usual (BAU) activity. This is a great opportunity for an outstanding Marketing Manager to join the team and own discrete projects that strengthen our portfolio and diversify and grow our customer base. We would expect a successful candidate to take over ongoing work, as well as actively shape and influence fresh new projects.

Job Purpose

The ideal candidate will be first and foremost an enthusiastic marketer. They will have a passion for creating and optimising customer journeys across both Business to Consumer (B2C) and Business to Business (B2B) audiences. They will embed positive customer experiences, strong brand positioning and well-articulated value propositions across workflows and processes. And they’ll see opportunities for templating the learnings from one launch to make future projects faster, more robust, and more efficient.

They will take the lead on agreed marketing initiatives, starting with initial brainstorming and research, delivering implementation and production, debriefing and reporting to improve our workflows, and eventually handing over as BAU to other teams. Such initiatives will plan for, cost out and drive clear paths to success for go-to-market of new products and propositions, whether this is onboarding new higher education partners, or delivering tangible outcomes from well-defined time-bound projects. They will be an integral part of the Marketing team, steering and shaping the direction of New Launches working hand-in-hand with colleagues from other teams across the business.

In addition to practical marketing experience, and well-developed planning skills, we need an individual able to handle several projects simultaneously, and with soft skills enough to lead colleagues and stakeholders to successfully launch new products and new opportunities to study. Although not essential, experience in the education sector and youth marketing are beneficial.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Promote ‘good marketing’

  • Use marketing know-how, including brand positioning, value propositions and portfolio analysis to provide a good foundation for every New Launch
  • Tie lead generation, effective conversion and positive customer experiences together into a smooth customer experience
  • Embed marketing KPIs and SLAs into process design


Own New Launch delivery

  • Take personal responsibility for positive outcomes so that plans meet agreed deliverables
  • Promote a smooth handover of New Launches to operational teams
  • Develop best practice templates for future New Launches
  • Communicate effectively
  • Make sure that internal and external stakeholders have a high-level understanding of New Launch aims, requirements, progress and risks, so that their needs are addressed, and expectations managed
  • Communicate complex plans confidently to non-marketers and stakeholders both inside and outside Oxford International


Manage dynamically

  • Get New Launches rolling even with initially incomplete briefs
  • Expect change, anticipate impact and adapt activity in response to external influences
  • Manage a suite of New Launch plans so that milestones, outcomes and budgets are clearly defined, monitored and actioned

Work collegiately

  • Engage with colleagues in other internal teams, such as Business Development, Sales & Recruitment and Admissions, co-ordinating their departmental plans with Marketing’s New Launch plans
  • Draw on external resources, such as specialist in design, quality assurance or software platforms when needed to navigate around roadblocks, hit milestones and deliver successful New Launches

Statutory requirements

  • Eligibility to live and work in in the UK;
  • Undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure check or overseas equivalent

Qualifications

  • Educated to a minimum of degree level
  • A professional marketing qualification

Experience and knowledge

  • Significant previous experience of working in a marketing role, with a focus on portfolio management and new product launches;
  • Experience defining structure for marketing workflows, such as value and brand propositions
  • Experience with content and content management systems
  • Evidence of creating and using metrics to guide marketing activity
  • Experience in producing marketing collateral such as brochures, flyers    and presentations;
  • Experience of digital marketing and website management
  • Knowledge of the education or youth sector
  • Experience with Knowledge Bases


Skills and Abilities

  • A solid understanding of successful marketing principles and how to deploy them in practice;
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a diverse  range of stakeholders;
  • Ability to drive change and lead a team of colleagues and subject matter experts
  • Excellent time and project management skills with the ability to  juggle a range of competing demands;
  • Able to build relationships and work  across teams;
  • Excellent IT skills including PowerPoint and Excel;
  • Able to work collaboratively and on own initiative;
  • Able to prioritise and respond effectively to new challenges at short notice.
  • Experience with project planning tools such as MS Project
