Marketing Manager, China

Location: Beijing, China

Reports to:

  • Group Marketing Director
  • Sales Director, China 

Job purpose

To build and implement the integrated marketing and campaign strategies for China. The role is responsible for supporting the recruitment efforts of our independent sixth form colleges and our pathways programmes.

Main duties and responsibilities
Strategy & Management

  • Develop integrated marketing communication strategy for China;
  • Manage the design, development, print production and delivery of collateral to support the sales cycle of specific brands for China; 
  • Develop deep understanding of China market to underpin all marketing strategies and plans including perception specific Oxford International programmes, cultural considerations and the decision-making processes and decision-making units;
  • Monitor competitor activity and feedback back to UK marketing team and China regional hub;
  • Deliver in China on time and within budget with clear measurable outcomes (digital display, PPC, social, email, website, events);
  • Take accountability for developing and delivering KPIs by region, channel & campaign;
  • Build budget for China marketing including cost/financial predictions;
  • Build relationship between marketing and sales/operations within China and be an integral member of the regional teams;
  • Take the lead responsibility in delivering monthly & bi-annual reports on marketing and commercial performance for China;
  • Take responsibility for monitoring marketing spend and for periodic review/reporting against the set marketing budget; and
  • Develop image bank and copy for China that can be used within marketing & sales teams. 

Advertising

  • Manage the setup and execution of advertising campaigns with local and national advertising agencies to support including copy writing and visual imagery.

Digital

  • Maximise the use of content marketing through the website – such as blogging, and newsletters;
  • Deliver effective multi-channel marketing campaigns across all digital channels with a mixture of in-house and external teams;
  • Manage and optimise the websites as and when required; and
  • Report on digital marketing statistics on the website and social channels regularly. 

PR, Event Planning

  • Plan advertising and promotional activities in UK (in support of the Global Recruitment Unit);
  • Manage PR activities in China; and
  • Undertake any other responsibilities commensurate with the grade of the post, which the Group Marketing Director may from time to time require.

Person specification - Essential 

Statutory requirements

  • Eligibility to live, work and travel freely in in the China 
  • Undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure check or overseas equivalent 

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level

Experience and knowledge

  • Significant experience of working in a marketing role 
  • Strong digital marketing skills (MUST have digital bias & focus) 
  • Sound knowledge of HTML/JavaScript 
  • Deep knowledge of search engine optimization 
  • Experience of overseeing multiple marketing campaigns 
  • An understanding of the key principles of successful marketing concepts 
  • Experience of MailChimp or other email marketing systems. 
  • Experience in producing marketing collateral such as brochures, flyers and presentations 
  • Experience in creating and delivering tactical marketing plans 
  • Evidence of using evidence and metrics to guide marketing activity
