The Manager, International Marketing & Communications South Asia is responsible for successfully implementing St. George’s University (SGU) marketing and communications strategy and plans in South Asia, including overseeing all marketing agencies in India, to ensure that SGU’s South Asia student recruitment team can meet and exceed their student recruitment targets.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage SGU’s marketing agencies in South Asia (Public Relations (PR), print, production, and distribution).
  • Effectively implement South Asia marketing plans and contribute to the development of the India marketing strategy.
  • Execute agreed marketing plans & activities for the SGU/Ramaiah partnership program/pathway and the Mini-Med summer school at Ramaiah Medical College (RMC).
  • Develop and implement public relations strategies to build brand awareness for SGU to students and parents.
  • Manage and coordinate the development of press materials and PR activations in coordination with the PR agency and the communications team in the US (press releases, pitches, press kit materials, newsletters etc.) to effectively tell our story and spread the word about SGU.
  • Leverage existing media relationships and build strong relationships within industry and media.
  • Analyse and report on various PR activities to stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Assist in developing marketing plans and pitches for any new partnerships in South Asia that SGU might consider entering, supporting the negotiations through market research and customer insight.
  • Liaise with SGU’s South Asia student recruitment team and ensure they are well-informed of all planned marketing activities in the country, obtaining their feedback on the marketing activities planned and delivered.
  • Lead the production of South Asia-specific publications and materials, including organizing the print and distribution of these materials to SGU’s recruitment team and relevant B2B partners.
  • Support promotion of information sessions and other recruitment events for SGU’s programs in South Asia.
  • Monitor SGU’s perceived competitors in South Asia, online and offline, and submit actionable recommendations and insights to the Director of International Marketing & Communications and other senior level leaders.
  • Monitor the perceptions, needs, and preferences of SGU’s target markets in South Asia, and report on any changes in these and any new insights on a quarterly basis; this includes overseeing all customer surveys and market research.
  • Own the creation and curation of compelling content (testimonials, success stories, presentations, visuals, creatives, website content etc.)
  • Oversee SGU’s marketing budget for South Asia, ensuring cost efficiency. Ensure monthly budgets remain within the agreed limits. Complete all necessary follow up with internal and external constituents as needed to ensure accurate, timely and efficient submission of all marketing invoices.
  • Build strong relationships within the international marketing team, working collaboratively with other team members on regional and international initiatives and contributing to the team’s success and development. Actively participate in team meetings and outreach.
  • Develop a positive working relationship within Ramaiah International Medical School  leadership and marketing team and working collaboratively with them on promoting the pathway.
  • Collaborate and build strong relationships with the US marketing team. Actively participate, collaborate, and engage during projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to all marketing and communications policies and procedures including SGU Brand Guidelines, as well as all relevant company policies and procedures. Ensure that SGU’s marketing activities in India are fully compliant with national and local rules and regulations.
  • Actively participate in meetings, planning sessions, events, and other activities of the international marketing team and the international recruitment team as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About You 

Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities,

  • Experience in managing external agencies (PR, Media, Creative)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of dealing directly with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Experience with planning, implementing, and managing marketing campaigns and activities
  • Experience working within an international, multi-site environment, communicating with offices around the world and within varying time zones.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player, with a high level of initiative
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in project management
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and thrive under pressure; results-orientated
  • A friendly, professional manner and appearance

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of International Education and Study Abroad industry
  • Experience working in, or supporting Sales Recruitment activities (agent and school channels)
  • Travel Requirements
  • Occasional (approximately twice a year)


  • Fluent in English (Oral and Written) with outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role, with a strong track record of success in South Asia/ India.
  • Degree in Marketing, or in Business/Sales with a professional qualification in Marketing
