The International Program Manager, Student Programs is responsible for empowering youth globally to create a compassionate world around the pillars: advocacy, education, leadership and service. This primary responsibility of this role is to coordinate operations around all international mobility programs, including placements of students on surgical programs, Peace Missions, university partnership programs, and other similar opportunities developed for student mobility at Operation Smile. This role works with students at the high school and undergraduate university levels, and will provide logistical and operational facilitation for all student mobility with Operation Smile.

This work includes executing best practices in education abroad and work/research/internship/volunteer abroad program operations. This includes processing applications, registrations, and payments for programs, and working with other internal departments for operational alignment. This role will liaise with external/third-party providers and partners, as well as internal Operation Smile departments and partner/program country Foundations staff. This role will provide additional support for international conferences and leadership opportunities as well. International and domestic travel may be required as necessary.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Lead, plan and implement all international mobility programs and processes to include overseeing program placement, pre-departure, and re-entry tasks.
  • Contribute to and execute health and safety protocols and planning for international mobility. Provide direct support as needed for any crisis response.
  • Prepares students for international mobility, including all pre-departure, health and safety, and visa issues as pertinent to the mobility program.
  • Support the development of learning and experiential outcomes for participants.
  • Promote all mobility programs and recruit participants. This will include in-person and virtual outreach engagement opportunities to raise awareness and interest in programs abroad with Operation Smile.
  • Collaborate with AVP to manage budget/variance reports for all international mobility programs, using budget as a proactive planning tool.
  • Collect, store, manage, and protect data on applicants, participants, and alumni, and create and maintain necessary reports for international mobility programming for Student Programs.
  • Support the in-country logistical planning for mobility programs with relevant internal and external partners.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for partnerships and agreements. Liaise with university partners for student-specific needs and requirements for participation.
  • Coordinate updates and maintenance of Student Programs database and student portal.
  • Timely communication with students and student supporters through emails, phone calls, face to face, social media, websites, mailings and updated resources. Answer or disseminate these communications as appropriate.
  • Under the advisement of the International Director for Student Programs, support international leadership councils and international student events with presentations and engagement as needed.
  • Engage in weekly team meetings and monthly calls with OSI regional staff for Student Programs as needed.
  • Seek opportunities for professional development in the areas of working with youth, service learning and/or leadership.
  • Additional duties as necessary or assigned.

Experience Required (education/work):

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Prior experience working with youth and young adults. Position will engage high school through university-level students.
  • Prior experience living or working in another country is preferred.
  • Prior experience in education abroad operations with a university or provider is preferred.
  • Prior experience with fundraising, development, and writing grants or proposals is preferred.

  • Comfortable driving a 15-passenger van.
  • Previous involvement with Operation Smile or non-profit organization is preferred.
