We’re Student Roost. An owner and operator of purpose-built student accommodation across the UK. We’re unrecognisable from the small brand that launched in 2017, having already created a portfolio of over 19,000 beds and ambition to increase that in the near future.

We’re made up of really good people and we’re a business who endeavours always to do the right thing, in the right way – truly putting students’ experience, welfare and safety at the top of our agenda.

We are now seeking to appoint a highly motivated and proactive Student Recruitment Manager who is effective in building and developing relationships with key influencers globally and locally.

This is a varied and exciting role that uses effective multi-channel sales and marketing techniques to promote Student Roost to agents and institutions. This is a B2B sales focussed role to increase revenue streams across the whole year.

·         Top of your agenda at all times; practice an unrelenting approach to safety and welfare by adherence to any and all safety policies and processes in our organisation.

·         Develop an understanding within your respective area for all statutory and legal accountabilities we hold; furthermore, ensure that your colleagues understand why we perform such duties and encourage an environment where safety and welfare is never overlooked.

·         Create an environment whereby all team members feel confident and comfortable in raising any concerns about our properties or our practices.

·         Set the strategic direction and contribute to the continual and sustainable growth of Student Roost by owning our international B2B channel and achieving our KPI targets

·         Monitor student enquiries, applications and bookings for each source market from agents and institutions and to identify and respond to trends.

·         Attend events and conferences to recruit students and network with key partners

·         Develop, negotiate and manage agency relationships in our target source markets worldwide. This will include monitoring the performance of agent’s relation to student recruitment as part of the process of improving the effectiveness of recruitment in specific markets

·         Provide training for agents to enable them to understand, explain and positively promote the business and its offering to prospective students

·         Organise incoming visits from individuals, agents and groups to Student Roost properties

·         Develop sustainable plans back up with market research for the recruitment of international students to Student Roost properties

·         Develop a yearly student recruitment plan to highlight activities to be undertaken and recruitment opportunities for the following academic year in line with data analysis to improve student recruitment

·         Plan student recruitment campaigns by priority market

·         Conduct market research, including competitor and benchmark analysis. This will include the analysis of internal and external statistical information and conduct investigations into market conditions

·         Work collaboratively with the Marketing Department and Operations team to ensure third party partners have everything they need to successfully promote Student Roost

·         Plan regular communications to existing and potential partners

·         Work with the marketing department to produce country specific bespoke marketing materials, both print and web where required

·         Manage an International Student Recruitment Executive and assist in their development and progression within Student Roost

·         Graduate or significant experience of the international Baccalaureate programme

·         Sales and Marketing experience gained within an educational environment

·         Previous direct experience in sales and marketing

·         Strong understanding of the Chinese education market would be an advantage

·         Ability to think strategically and understand how to develop potential client relationships

·         Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

·         Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently and effectively with others

·         Proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

·         A self-starter who can use their initiative and also work effectively as part of a team

·         A pragmatic and flexible approach

Physical Effort

·         You’ll be desk-based at our office in Birmingham, working in front of a screen for much of that time. In line with the DSE assessment, we encourage time away from your workstation, fresh air throughout the day and a good balance between systems and human beings!

 Mental Effort

·         This is a role of competing priorities and as a seasonal operation, there are times of year when workloads may spike or unplanned incidents will take over. The role requires someone highly organised, but someone who is calm and pragmatic in their response to changes.

·         Despite solid planning, short-notice work may be required of you.

·         Unpredictable pattern of activity, no two days are the same and this role would be more suited to someone who can operate effectively in a highly-varied environment.

 Emotional Effort

·         As we build out this business, working on the development of organisational processes, systems and change, it can bring with it uncertainty. We would seek to minimise or remove any concerns for people through clear, consistent communication.
