We are currently seeking an experienced and resilient Head of Student Recruitment to join a growing and high-performing team at Brunel University London Pathway College (BPC). The Head of Student Recruitment (HSR) will report to the BPC Director of Marketing and Admissions (DMA) and line-manage a growing team of student recruitment professionals, in the UK and abroad, to help shape and realise our recruitment strategy.

Working collaboratively with other College functions, including marketing, admissions and student services, and more widely with colleagues across the Navitas and Brunel University London networks, the HSR will be key to achieving our growth ambitions.

BPC provides students with pathways, including Foundation Year, First Year Studies and Pre-Master’s, into a range of Brunel University London undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Head of Student Recruitment Duties:

  • Leading the College recruitment function to achieve ambitious enrolment growth targets, across multiple markets, segments, channels and intakes
  • Assessing and documenting the recruitment landscape across multiple source countries to develop student recruitment plans which are highly attuned to market dynamics, accounting for economic, social, political, legal and technological developments
  • Developing annual and intake based recruitment strategies and implementation plans, taking a combination of a top down and a bottom up approach to target setting and overall planning
  • Line-managing a team of student recruitment officers/ managers responsible for different regions and markets, collectively, delivering on the college growth objectives and targets
  • Working with the DMA, College Principal and Director and other CMT (College Management Team) members to discuss, ideate and address leadership and strategic items including product development and diversification
  • Ensuring the deployment of and continual improvement of BPCs intake based conversion program, to maximise conversion of applicants to offer holders to enrolments and beyond
  • Managing and monitoring the College pipeline of prospective students alongside the in-market sales and marketing teams
  • Ensure that the College remains within national and internal guidelines for compliance. This includes UK student visa compliance, CMA and other regulatory, legal and ethical standards
  • Effectively represent BPC at various forums and engagements, exercising strong influencing skills to secure outcomes in favour of BPC’s growth objectives
  • Working with colleagues across the Navitas network and leveraging organisational strengths. Networking withing Navitas will be key to building a support base to help address issues and challenges as well as realising opportunities
  • Working with Brunel University London and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment in recruitment strategies and minimising the risk of being out of sync
  • Taking ownership of key College frameworks to help instil structure and assess performance, including the activity calendar, budgeting, market prioritisation framework, scholarships deployment and others
  • Coordinate recruitment activities, including attendance at fairs and events through the development and execution of an integrated plan with associated targets and KPIs
  • Participate in sales activities including, but not limited to, training, events, conversion calls, admissions, information sessions and managing enquiries/agent requests
  • Assess and evaluate recruitment activity in respect of its value for money against targets
  • Prepare quantitative and qualitative reports, summaries and business cases to help address issues and challenges and/or secure support or approval for initiatives to realise opportunities
  • Deliver market intelligence, insight and accurate sales forecasts through regular and detailed reports to the DMA and SSRM
  • Support the marketing and admissions functions and align strategies across the value chain
  • Develop ways of attracting and retaining team members. Ensure that appropriate performance management and succession planning is in place so that the team remains agile and innovative
  • Play a role as agreed with the DMA to step in and help trouble-shoot high priority cases and situations
  • Identify and help address emerging risks to BPC’s recruitment targets
  • Other duties, as required from time to time in line with the seniority and scope of this role

Head of Student Recruitment Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Hands-on student recruitment experience from a UK university and/or a pathway provider
  • Proven track record of strong sales performance in higher education
  • Proven ability to line manage a team and deliver high performance
  • Proven ability to monitor and evaluate the success of activities and report appropriately
  • Proven ability to work successfully with education agents and partners
  • Knowledge of the UK admissions, student visa and compliance regulations
  • A passion for customer service
  • High degree of cultural sensitivity and awareness
  • High-level numeric literacy and critical thinking
  • High level interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills; written and spoken
  • Proven ability as a team player
  • Ability to meet targets within defined timelines among changing priorities

  • An eye for developing new recruitment initiatives

  • Familiarity with salesforce or similar CRM systems
  • Postgraduate level degree
  • Experience of working effectively within a matrix structure to ensure competing demands are met-Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM systems
