The Director/Senior Manager of Student Services Role
If successful, you would be joining the International College Portsmouth team, where we prepare international students from all around the world for undergraduate and postgraduate level study at the University of Portsmouth. You’d be joining a group of really dedicated staff here who work hard to ensure that students have the very best chance of success, whether through academic or welfare and transition support. We maintain a very friendly culture and environment for staff and students alike, and while it’s sometimes a fast-paced and busy environment, it’s hugely rewarding for the team when we see our students succeed and progress to the University of Portsmouth, and indeed graduate a couple of years later.

Requirements for the Director/Senior Manager of Student Services Role

  • Tertiary qualifications at the postgraduate level in a discipline relevant to one of those offered by the college
  • Evidence of work related professional development
  • Good  understanding of the UK Higher Education system
  • Successful record of managing people, budgets and resources
  • Experience of implementing strategies, standards and practices
  • Delivery-focused: driving though change whilst ensuring outcomes are met
  • Understand and respect the critical interface between budget management, quality assurance and student recruitment
  • Possess detailed knowledge and understanding of the Home Office Tier 4 regulations and the QAA’s Quality Code
  • Understand the international  education business and provide best practice levels of student care, advice and support
  • Substantial experience in curriculum development and management and evaluation of learning and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders
  • Possess highly developed interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Well-developed problem-solving, decision-making, team-building and team-working skills
  • Demonstrate leadership and coordination skills in an education environment
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to communicate with staff and students from a diverse range of cultural and educational backgrounds
  • Dealing with competing priorities
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of equal opportunity, equity and workplace health and safety principles and ability to implement them at the strategic and/or operational level
  • IT literacy, strong reporting and presentation skills
  • Possess a “can do” mentality and shine when under pressure


  • Teaching qualification
  • Master’s Degree
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are eligible to work in the UK on an ongoing basis. ICP is a safeguarding employer and the successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
