About The London School Group

The London School Group incorporates The London School of English, The London School of International Communication and LondonSchool Online.

The London School of English is the best known of the group’s businesses, having been established in 1912 and offering a wide range of courses to adults.

In recent years the business has diversified beyond English language training into the areas of intercultural communication and online learning. This role encompasses all parts of the business and requires a focus on driving growth across both the established parts of the business and the newer brands.

The Job

This is a board level role. The Director of Sales & Marketing (DSM) is accountable for all sales and marketing activity across The London School Group.

The successful candidate will be comfortable delivering against targets and be ready to hold their team accountable for their own targets whilst offering support and guidance where needed.

The DSM needs to be a strong leader; someone with drive and a can-do attitude with a readiness to step out of their comfort zone and embrace new challenges.  At the same time, however, the DSM needs to be grounded, practical and ready to join in ‘at the coal face’.

Although we have a well-established agent network, we also have long-standing relationships with corporate clients that need to be maintained and enhanced. Similarly, we are committed to expanding our digital reach with very significant investment well underway across a number of key channels. Therefore, the DSM will need to have a sound understanding of digital marketing strategy and be ready to embrace new technology where the benefits of doing so are clear.

Main responsibilities and attributes include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct sales and marketing activity across The London School Group of companies, ensuring direct reports achieve their targets and KPIs.
  • Being a committed team player regularly liaising with key stakeholders across all parts of the Group – and a willingness to support in other areas of the business when the need arises.
  • Being an active contributor to informing the strategic direction of the business, setting and communicating Sales & Marketing Department plans and ensuring they are implemented.
  • Identify, maintain and develop relationships with key agents and corporate decision makers.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of all LSG products and services.

KPIs:

  • Achieve revenue targets for The London School Group and its businesses in line with monthly and annual targets.
  • Be accountable for the delivery of quarterly priorities as agreed at regular senior team meetings.
  • Hold weekly catch-ups and monthly reviews with all direct reports in order to ensure sales targets and core objectives are achieved.

Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a senior B2B Sales & Marketing role.
  • Ideally – but not essentially - experience working in international education or a corporate training environment.
  • Experience managing senior key partner or agent relationships
  • Highly driven and self-motivated individual with solid experience of setting - and delivering against - targets.
  • Strong leadership skills including a mentoring mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
  • An additional language or experience living overseas would be beneficial.

Values:

The DSM must embody the core values of the company and ensure that they are shared and routinely in evidence with their teams.

These are our core values:

  • We are proud of what we do.
  • We go the extra mile.
  • We communicate openly and honestly.
  • We innovate and improve.
  • We are a team. We get things done together
