Position Summary:

The Director of Sales and Marketing reports directly to the President of the Higher Education business and is responsible for leading the strategic planning and execution of all international marketing and recruitment efforts for college and University programs in the US. 

The Director of Sales and Marketing is a strategic sales position with ultimate responsibility for achieving student recruitment targets across key source markets including China, South East Asia, Latin America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. This is a key position in the Higher Education leadership team and responsible for managing a growing and geographically diverse sales team.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop the global recruitment strategy and country planning, including identifying opportunities and activities for EC Higher Education tailored to all relevant source markets to reach all recruitment goals.
  • Develop and execute a strategic and comprehensive annual marketing plan in order to build brand recognition in key markets across the world and to drive demand from students seeking educational programs in the U.S. This may include social, print media, website (ownership and strategic direction i.e. online applications, blog, social media campaigns etc.) and participation in global recruitment activities such as exhibitions, agent fairs etc.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Admissions teams, ensuring a seamless admissions process throughout the Higher Education division
  • Manage, develop and nurture an extensive network of institutional partners, education agents, government organisations and feeder institutions etc.  
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across the core EC Business such as Operations, Admissions and Operations Work with the Sales Operations Manager and other key internal stakeholders to ensure efficient workflows and cross department training.
  • Management of the marketing and sales budget
  • Provide on-going training, support, and detailed program knowledge to marketing and recruitment partners. Support global partners at promotional events.
  • Identify new product opportunities
  • Providing weekly analysis and reporting on sales and marketing activity and performance.
  • Establish annual pricing policy for EC higher Education products
  • This role will involve extensive travel throughout the world to promote EC Higher Education and all its programs.

Education Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in marketing, communications, business or related area.

Education Desired: 

  • Master’s degree preferably in Marketing/Business/Economics

Experience Required:

  • A proven track record in delivering and improving sales of US Higher Education and ideally Pathway Programmes
  • Proven experience developing and implementing a global high-level student recruitment and marketing plan within Higher Education pathways
  • Significant experience in hiring, managing, engaging and developing high performing geographically remote sales teams
  • Knowledge of building and providing to assess, monitor, and deliver results on recruiting international students
  • Demonstrated budget and financial management experience
  • Analytical mindset with strong reporting capabilities, strong attention to detail and highly organised
  • Experience of website management and social media campaigns
  • Ability to keep up-to-date on trends and activities in the pathway industry
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple local, national and global stakeholders
  • Resilient and proven Leader- ability to deliver autonomously and work collaboratively
  • Eligibility to work in and travel freely to and from the U.S.

Experience Desired:

  • Deep knowledge of the Chinese, South East Asia Market and/or Middle East.
