We are looking for a Director of Insights & Brand for our office in Berlin

The Director of Insights & Brand leads the internal effort to create demand for the Babbel brand and bring it to life across our Core B2C, B2B and Babbel Travel businesses. This role oversees three teams, Insights, Brand Strategy and Creative, which monitor and share competitive and consumer insights across markets, build the brand and develop award-winning creative content for integrated marketing activities. This senior marketing role sits on the Marketing Leadership Team and works collaboratively with the Product and Engineering Leadership.

You lead the Insights group, the Brand Strategy group and the Creative Operations group, leveraging consumer insights and our brand platform to deliver go to market strategies and activations that help grow our brand in our 4 key market clusters, outside of the US.

You will:

  • Monitor and strategically analyze our Brand performance, the market and competition. Stay keenly aware of global and regional trends to identify opportunities and share information.
  • Help grow a unique and powerful Babbel brand in our key markets based on insights and competitive differentiation. Leverage our brand values and encourage out-of-the-box thinking to lead the market. 
  • Develop strong, creative, and integrated content for each marketing channel
  • Ensure a consistency of our brand identity through design and tone across company activities. 
  • Orchestrate the timing and integration of marketing content across global channels
  • Lead 3 groups directly: Insights, Brand Strategy, Creative 
  • Manage external agency partners for creative and market research.
  • Champion and communicate brand initiatives across the organization
  • Collaborate with the Director of International Growth and their team to define go to market plans based on market insights.
  • Collaborate with the VP Performance Marketing to accelerate short term leads and sales, through an agile and iterative process for creative production based on performance analytics 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Product Marketing to ensure consistency between marketing activities and product development based on systematic consumer/user insight analysis 
  • Align your teams’ OKRs with other partner teams
  • Directly report to the CMO

You are:

  • A strategic thinker who translates high level strategies into practical implementation strategies.
  • A creative storyteller who understands the human dimension across cultures 
  • Energetic, confident and and an excellent communicator, able to motivate people at all levels across a broad variety of job functions
  • Analytical and detail oriented, organized, and adept as both a self-starter and leading an organization
  • A team player, capable of working effectively and cross-functionally at all levels of management.
  • Customer focused and passionate about the digital language learning space. great analytical skills, and an obsession for turning insights into strategic plans and action.
  • Positive and adaptable to a fast-paced environment with competing and ever-changing tasks and challenges
  • Fluent in English (any additional language is a plus)

You have:

  • A Master’s Degree, a min of 10 years of demonstrated success in insight-led brand marketing (incl. online experience), a min of 6 years leading teams.
  • Strong understanding of business challenges, financial analyses, legal and corporate governance matters 
  • Deep knowledge/experience of brand management combined with a love for brands that have an impact on culture
  • Excellent understanding of current marketing tools and innovative in off- and online campaigns from concept to execution 
  • Experience building and leading diverse teams and supporting your direct reports’ growth
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfort communicating across all levels within the organisation. Great presentation skills are a plus.
  • An agency/consultancy background (creative and/or research) or a similar skillset on the brand side with demonstrated experience building strong relationships with agency partners
