International Student Support Program

Morneau Shepell’s International Student Support Program (ISSP) is designed to engage and support students from around the world attending US post-secondary institutions, who face a wide variety of challenges.  

Reporting to the Senior Director, Student Support Program (based in Toronto), the Director, Business Development, Student Support (SSP), UK Region will be directly responsible for the continued growth of Morneau Shepell’s ISSP in the UK region. The role will focus on selling the ISSP on a direct basis to post-secondary schools across the UK Region.

The Director, Business Development SSP role requires a strong combination of consultative sales skills, knowledge of mental health issues faced by international students and an understanding of the dynamics of working with key administrators in a post-secondary environment. Success in this role can be defined by year over year increases in metrics related to new sales and total revenue growth on a direct basis within the assigned region. Success in the role will also require alignment with Morneau Shepell’s Senior Leadership teams, as well as collaboration with Product Management, Implementation teams and other enabling groups.

Responsibilities of the Director, SSP Development include the following:

  • Growing Morneau Shepell’s International Student Support Program within post-secondary institutions across the UK region.
  • Developing strategic relationships with key administration contacts from prospective institutional clients in assigned territory
  • Development and execution of a regional business plan for assigned territory(s)  
  • Maintain responsibility for full sales cycle, from opportunity identification through to negotiation and close of sale 
  • Continually demonstrating a highly developed capacity to consult around institutional issues and develop creative solutions to those issues, including, but not exclusive of, joint research initiatives and the potential cross-sell of additional services into the portfolio 
  • Leading proposal development and presentations to prospective client organizations on a direct basis
  • Working closely with the Account Management team to oversee administration and program integration of all key institutional clients to ensure service delivery to contract and appropriate billing of services is complete
  • Participating in regional and national industry conferences on a regular basis 

Succeeding as Director, SSP Development a will require the following core qualifications and skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business or Health Sciences; and additional accreditations and ongoing subject matter expertise in Psychological Health Management practices, policies, and associated legislation 
  • A minimum of five years in Sales roles with a successful track record of growing and managing a pipeline
  • Experience working with the post-secondary and/or international education sector, whether in international student services or international recruitment is considered a strong asset 
  • Clinical/mental health background/experience is considered a strong asset
  • A strong consultative approach to problem-solving and project management, and a desire to exceed client expectations at every turn 
  • A highly analytical approach to understanding data and making business decisions and recommendations as a result of that information 
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial approach and ability to navigate, thrive and deliver in a complex and unchartered start-up environment with remote supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver strong presentations and proven business development skills
  • Personal international experience living/working/studying abroad is a strong asset
  • Ability and willingness to travel within assigned territory and beyond is essential
