Key Accountabilities:

·       Support Course Leader in Key Performance Indicators and common responsibilities in student recruitment, retention and satisfaction (currently Level 4 recruitment, Level 4 and Level 5 retention, and Level 6 National Student Survey outcomes).

·       In consultation with an appointed relevant college discipline expert where appropriate, and with support from the Head of Learning and Teaching and People Team, contribute to the recruitment of teaching staff using best practice and fair processes to identify talent.

·       Manage, motivate and develop a team of teaching staff, ensuring they consistently deliver against their responsibilities.

·       Provide ongoing advice and support to students in their studies.

·       Comply with and implement all BIMM policies and procedures as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Ensure teaching resources and materials such as module guides and Moodle pages are in place and accessible to support teaching staff in their lesson planning and delivery.

·       Provide input on development of existing and new UG courses / modules. 

·       Complete regular lesson observations, providing developmental feedback to teaching staff to ensure that the quality of teaching meets the required BIMM standards.

·       Ensure appropriate assessment standards are understood and implemented by teaching staff.

·       Mark and moderate an agreed amount of HE assessments as directed.

·       Ensure that students with records of non-attendance and non-submission are contacted and supported in completion of their academic stage.

·       Develop and maintain current and relevant music industry connections and research sources to support the learning and progression outcomes of students.


·       Take responsibility for the delivery of teaching lessons as timetabled, ensuring students are engaged, informed and encouraged to achieve their full potential.

·       Deliver classroom teaching of your assigned modules, as per your contracted hours.

·       Deliver academic tutorials for students and personal / mentor scheme tutorials as directed.

·       Complete accurate and timely lesson registers and report student absences accurately.

·       Ensure appropriate deputies for classroom teachers are sourced by teaching staff, and secure deputies for classroom teaching when necessary as well as engaging in the process of deputising lessons (in negotiation with line manager).

·       Comply with and implement as appropriate, all of BIMM's policies and procedures, with particular reference Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, and Health and Safety.
