The Business Development Manager (East & Southeast Asia) is part of our business development team where the main objective is to achieve great sales results whilst delivering exceptional service in an ever-changing market place. We achieve the best results at The English Studio by really understanding our markets, partners and customer needs through unrivalled relationship management. This position will be fundamental to continued growth through an extensive portfolio of partners in Asia. Having responsibility for the relationship with potential and existing partners in the designated region, this position requires excellent communication and negotiation skills. The successful individual will have bags of energy, a strong passion for results and industry experience.

 

Business Development Manager (East & Southeast Asia)

Summary

Reporting to the Head of Business Development, the Business Development Manager (East & Southeast Asia) will be based in Beijing and will be tasked with developing relationships of both new and existing partners, foreseeing opportunities to grow accounts and cease commercial prospects. Ability to support the work of the organisation by delivering outstanding client services is a key skill required. Working in a global organisation the new Business Development Manager will be an excellent communicator to support seamless agent communications supporting mutual growth. Flexibility is key to any role within this dynamic team as frequent travel to source markets as well as between our London and Dublin schools is fundamental to the role.

 

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Build and nurture relationships with existing partners to strengthen relationships within East and Southeast Asia region and deliver an outstanding sales performance
  • Identify new routes to business opportunities, markets and partnerships
  • Demonstrate a high level of knowledge and understanding of the Asian market, ELT products and services
  • Attend industry fairs representing our business in East and Southeast Asia
  • Create, negotiate and close commercial agreements, converting prospective agents into active partners
  • Arrange and manage regular meetings with current and prospective partners based in designated regions, including in-country visits to agents’ base countries
  • Help ensure that the company delivers its SLAs from bookings to credit control
  • Produce reports as and when required with specific recommendations for future action
  • Work to achieve desired sales results within a set budget for travel over a 12 month period
  • Work closely with the Head of Business Development in delivery of targets – both team and personal
  • Ensure that quality customer service forms the basis of all that we deliver
  • Be fully aware of all internal procedures with regards to quality issues that play a meaningful role in the quality cycle
  • Carry out and assist in any other work-related duties as per business needs and/or requirements
  • Communicate effectively between all internal and external teams (across both schools)
  • Act as a brand ambassador to current and prospective international partners
  • Help create and manage periodic promotions according to an agreed yearly seasonal calendar
  • Collate course and fee information in relation to partner requests, responding in a timely manner improving on the conversion rates and positively impacting on sales performance
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure seamless experience for both customers and partners from sales to product delivery with specific attention to group business
  • Support the Head of Business Development with overall strategy, planning and execution of marketing plans
  • Achieve set KPIs including but not limited to; partner service feedback, sales performance, new partner acquisition and summer group targets
  • Communicate market intelligence to SMT that may inform decision making on future products and services of The English Studio

 

What we’re looking for
 

  • Proficient English skills both spoken and written
  • Fluent in at least on major Asian language (i.e. Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, Thai, Taiwanese)
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Have a proven track record of successfully selling and negotiating with medium/small schools
  • Be willing to bring valuable industry experience to the sales team
  • Passion for London and Dublin as student travel destinations
  • Knowledge of existing inbound language travel markets and established relationships
  • Thorough knowledge of sector and deep understanding of product that can inspire confidence in a team, agents and students
  • Technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • An excellent negotiator and relationship builder
  • Hard working, well organised, enthusiastic, creative, forward thinking and fun-loving
  • Flexible approach to frequent travel
