Victorian Institute of Technology (VIT), established in 1998, is an accredited and recognized registered training organization. VIT is a Higher Education provider through our Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems (BITS), Master of Information Technology and Systems (MITS) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses. We are also a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and a Microsoft Certified Partner since 2000.


Our Institute provides a broad range of accredited vocational education and training (VET) courses, as well as providers of English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS), at our convenient inner city locations.


Purpose of the position

This is a full-time role for a Business Development Coordinator at Victorian Institute of Technology (VIT) Sydney campus, reporting to the Director to International recruitment. The Business Development Coordinator is also responsible for providing market insights, leads generation, conversions, enrolment performance, agency management, issues/concerns, recommendations and market trends and ensuring that these matrices are in line with regulatory of (VIT) stakeholders and business partners’ requirements and policies. Also, responsible to make sure that all marketing and admissions activities are complaint with published policies and procedures, ESOS Act 2000, HESF 2021, National Code 2018, RTO Standards 2015 and any other State or Federal Government regulations as updated from time to time.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet and exceed international recruitment targets and KPI.Develop and implement strategies to attract and recruit students.
  • Implement VIT and VIT’s stakeholders and business partners’ core Philosophy of “Student First” and make the prospective students as the word-of-mouth referrals and student ambassadors.
  • Implement the core philosophy of VIT stakeholders and business partners’ that agents’ relations are managed by great service to the students and agents.
  • Manage the delivery of international student recruitment activity in all territories (both onshore and offshore) to meet VIT and VIT’s stakeholders and business partners’ recruitment targets across all its product offerings (HE, VET and ELICOS sectors). The portfolio may range in nature from established and mature to emerging and new markets onshore and offshore.
  • Build mutually beneficial relationships with education (recruitment) agents, schools, universities, and other education providers which have been identified as sources for student recruitment. Engagement may be through a variety of channels including: the provision of information and guidance, coordination of curriculum enrichment activities (guest lectures, interactive workshops etc.), and hosting inward visits to VIT and VIT’s stakeholders and business partners.
  • Develop and sustain collaborative relationships with key external stakeholders e.g. education (recruitment) agents, business partners, sponsors, foreign embassies, government/regulatory departments, and agencies.
  • Select, provide training, and manage a network of effective education (recruitment) agents. This will include setting intake targets at the start of each admissions cycle and reviewing performance.
  • Be a positive influence for change where VIT and VIT’s stakeholders and business partners’ culture, programs, services, policies, and procedures are concerned. The goal being to help create an environment that will attract applications of the highest calibre and deliver the best possible student experience.
  • Give admissions advice and support to both potential and current applicants, including assessing Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirements and working in close collaboration with VIT and VIT’s stakeholders and business partners’ Admissions Team.
  • Effectively interact with VIT and VIT’s stakeholders and business partners’ potential students and/or with their education (recruitment) agents (both onshore and offshore) over the phone, email and/or in person, with potentially every interaction being a new situation.
  • Encourage and recommend prospective students directly and/or via their education (recruitment) agents to select VIT and VIT’s stakeholders and business partners’ respective courses as a career pathway.
  • Effective management of all sales and marketing campaigns and working collaboratively with other departments to ensure effective digital marketing strategies are in place including the utilisation of all platforms (e.g. social media) to continue the generation of increased leads and stakeholders and business partners’ footprints.
  • Work in close collaboration with line manager and other team members to effectively manage overall customer service and meeting strategic objectives of VIT.


Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in a similar role in higher education student administration and a high knowledge of recruiting international students into Higher Education and Vocational Education & Training frameworks, ELICOS courses.
  • Experience in and fully conversant with the education policy in Australia.
  • Experience in working within a team and different departments.
  • Extensive sales and marketing experiences.
  • Experience of international student recruitment and understand international admissions criteria.
  • Experience of managing and developing a network of education (recruitment) agents, provide support.
  • Effective knowledge of education policy constraints and legal requirements.
  • Effective knowledge and understanding of Australian and international qualifications frameworks.
  • Experience in developing and implementing marketing and sales plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to reach and exceed sales (enrolment) targets.
  • Experience in executive reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in market research and proposal writing.
  • Customer service orientation and ability to build relationships.


Relevant skills and qualifications that would be beneficial include knowledge of the education industry, understanding of international markets, and proficiency in multiple languages.
