Language Study Centres (LSC) is a British Council accredited organisation which runs summer young learner courses in various locations around the UK. LSC also provides high school programmes for international students in the UK and Ireland.

Language Study Centres is looking to employ an experienced Operations Manager for our summer centres and high school programmes to be based at our head office in London. This is a senior management position reporting to the Managing Director therefore the Operations Manager is expected to fulfil a demanding workload.

Job Description

  • To negotiate contracts with universities and venues regarding summer hire and services including accommodation, food, classrooms and social space
  • To assist in the research of new centres for LSC and to investigate appropriate activity and excursion options
  • To liaise with the Managing Director over centre set up budgets, social programme budgets and agent pricing
  • To manage LSC Centre Managers, providing guidance and support at all times and updating guidelines to help them be prepared for their role
  • To create social programmes for all LSC summer centres. Liaising with attractions and coach companies in relation to for each centre
  • To liaise with the Sales Team, managing centres efficiently to ensure optimum use of capacity
  • To liaise with the Recruitment Team, ensuring the centres has the right level of staffing
  • To ensure that all centres continue to achieve the highest levels of student satisfaction, and seek ways to raise the bar further
  • To lead risk management for all centres and activities
  • To ensure rigorous incident reporting from all centres, and ensure appropriate follow up action
  • To be on call to give guidance to any of the team – sharing the emergency phone during the summer
  • To adhere to all statutory regulations and to LSC policies and procedures
  • To protect at all times the confidentiality of information handled within the remit of the post
  • To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons you are responsible for and come into contact with
  • To work irregular hours and travel worldwide as required
  • To undertake any reasonable duties as required


  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Experience gain within the EFL Young Learner sector
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
  • Strong Organisational skills
  • Experience of project management and leading teams


  • TEFLQ or DELTA qualification
