CIEE is seeking a dynamic professional with a proven sales record to serve as an International Sales Consultant for CIEE’s Academic Exchanges International Sales Team.  Reporting dually into the Senior Director of the International Sales Team and the Vice President of Academic Exchanges, this position will be responsible for business development and sales across all regions of the world, with a focus on J-1 visa cultural exchanges and F-1 visa academic exchanges at the high school (HS) level. The International Sales team develops and manages B2B relationships to recruit participants for CIEE’s inbound high school student exchanges to the United States, including J-1 visa exchanges, and F-1 visa academic exchanges at the high school level. 

The International Sales Consultant will research, identify, and develop new market opportunities and will actively engage in the prospecting of new International Representatives across all of CIEE’s markets. This position will require frequent international travel in order to generate student enrollments. In collaboration with other CIEE divisions, the Consultant will engage in analysis of student mobility trends and develop marketing strategies to support sales efforts for the J-1 exchange programs. The International Sales Consultant will function as the chief liaison with International Representatives for annual cooperation agreements, training, program marketing and development, and overall service delivery. In addition, the International Sales Consultant will assist the Senior Director in the achievement of annual program sales goals and long-term business development objectives for all J-1 visa HS products.

Primary Responsibilities:

Specifically, the International Sales Consultant will:

  • Drive sales of the J-1 High School Program by actively engaging CIEE’s existing base of International Representatives and by developing new business relationships with other key International Representatives in the J-1 HS market.
  • Simultaneously cross-sell the F-1 HS academic visa exchange programs.
  • Research and develop new market opportunities for the J-1 HS visa programs.
  • Advise the Senior Director and Vice President on market strategies, including but not limited to pricing and enrollment to increase J-1 High School program sales.
  • Take responsibility for the overall management and pipeline of assigned accounts.
  • Actively monitor, analyze, and report on sales activities for all J-1 HS International Representative accounts.
  • Track and follow up on account and participant leads in order to convert them to the final sale.
  • Identify areas of risk and opportunity to ensure budget targets are met or exceeded
  • Ensure that each International Representative is receiving the highest level of customer service from CIEE in order to meet sales goals and maximize yield from the representative and market.
  • Assist in the establishment of standard account management protocols, support procedures, and sales reporting systems.
  • In conjunction with the J-1 HS Operations team, oversee and perform webinar and in-person trainings, as required, for new and existing International Representatives.
  • Maintain accurate data and contact details for all J-1 HS International Representatives using CIEE’s Customer Relationship Management system.
  • Communicate deadlines for J1 HS allocation and submission of student application materials.
  • Maintain J-1 HS content for the International Representatives Resource Center in conjunction with the J-1 HS Operations team.
  • Work with International Representatives to confirm available trip incentives designed to boost host family recruitment.
  • Assist with content planning and implementation of annual programs; including national meetings, international meetings, and student orientations.
  • Attend student arrival orientations, as needed.
  • Set up and execute representative events such as annual on-site visits, customized training days, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with CIEE team members to develop strategy.
  • Liaise closely with CIEE internal marketing division to initiate and implement marketing campaigns to drive student enrollments with a specific focus on digital marketing campaigns.
  • Work closely with other members of the J-1 High School team, acquiring deep knowledge of CIEE’s school portfolio, as well as host family placements.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-5 years of sales and account management experience required.
  • Language skills required: fluency in English is required. Fluency in a second language a plus.
  • Experience with J1 or F1 international programs required.
  • Knowledge of high school academic environment required.
  • Understanding of student mobility trends.
  • Desire to work in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Frequent international travel required.
  • Comfortable with learning new technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, and multi-tasking skills along with a strong work ethic, high integrity, and passion for success in this exciting international workforce.
  • Experience building credible relationships across functions and management levels.
  • Self-starter with ability to take initiative and drive projects independently.
  • Experience delivering results in a fast-paced team environment.

CIEE’s typical work week is Monday-Friday, forty hours per week.  Regular work schedules may vary based on business needs.  This position will require frequent international travel for international representative visits, as well as annual conferences.
