About the role
The USA remains one of the most highly desirable study location for students over the world, and supporting the internationalisation goals of our partner universities continues to be an important and exciting opportunity for Kaplan International.

We are looking for a dynamic and energetic International Student Recruitment Manager to drive student recruitment from the Southern Africa region into Arizona State University (ASU). Reporting directly to the Regional Manager, you’ll bring an unmatched understanding of international students recruitment, preferably with a US education or professional working background and knowledge and strong understanding of the Southern Africa region. You will be able to demonstrate an awareness of at least one major market in the region, and you will have excellent organisational skills and will be a self-starter with experience of working internationally.


Your key responsibilities will involve:

  • Driving student opportunities to achieve enrolment targets for ASU in line with compliance requirements.
  • Diligent management of student pipeline - Working closely with students and converting student opportunities from new leads to enrolment, including responding to all enquiries within 24 hours and providing an outstanding level of customer service.
  • Promoting ASU on an on-going basis to generate new leads in market by creating digital strategies and working with established and new stakeholders via exhibitions, seminars and other recruitment events.
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, including helping create regional strategies.
  • Liaising effectively across the Kaplan internal network with partner universities and with key recruitment agents and educational bodies overseas.
  • Presenting to a range of audiences, including potential students and their parents, staff in schools, agents and partners
  • Ensuring all partner agents are given comprehensive training and have full and complete knowledge of ASU courses and selling points.
  • Evaluating recruitment and marketing activities in the region and work within budgetary requirements.
  • Promoting all Kaplan US university partners in the region in order to achieve enrolment target.
  • Making an immediate impact driving the achievement of our Spring 2023 enrolment targets.
  • Delivering outstanding levels of customer service.
  • Travelling across your respective region for up to 20 weeks per year.

Any other activities as determined by the Regional Manager.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Achievement of set market enrolment targets and development of the ASU recruitment in the region.
  • Maintenance of high level of service to all stakeholders.
  • Conversion rates from application to enrolment for students coming from all channels. 


Skills & Experience

About you:

  • Background in international education.
  • Experience recruiting for or working with US universities
  • University education (preferably US graduate).
  • Awareness and understanding of the US visa system.
  • Fluency in English
  • Strong social media presence
  • Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, presentation and communication skills, across a wide range of audiences
  • Demonstrated team player with a “can do” attitude to overcoming obstacles
  • Goal-driven and results oriented profile
  • Ability to prioritise and plan work effectively under tight deadlines, under pressure and with competing priorities
  • The ability to identify and manage risk and knowing when to escalate areas of risk where applicable
  • Ability to learn independently and to master and apply new knowledge and skills quickly
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadline, to meet challenging enrolment targets
  • Awareness and appreciation of cultural differences
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, self-motivated and committed to achieving organisational goals.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively throughout the region very soon into the role
  • Flexibility with working hours including working over weekends when required
  • IT literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 


  • Experience of working with international students.
  • Fluency in French
  • Experience of working in the Africa region.
  • Experience of customer relationship management.
