Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of GSB International at the Gustavson School of Business, the International Recruitment Officer will be responsible for recruitment activities specific to undergraduate BCom recruitment internationally. This position will be accountable in generating sufficient student applications so as to the meet international student recruitment targets for the BCom undergraduate program. The candidate will conduct research to identify Bachelor of Commerce International (BCI) student needs as well as potential recruitment markets and countries. Success candidate will develop a comprehensive marketing strategy to reach targeted institutions, discover ways to enhance the Gustavson student brand through online presence (website, social media, other online platforms). This position will explore innovative ways to manage current institutional relationships with students and universities to ensure retention and promotion of our service offerings in the future, and deliver promotional presentations to large groups of prospective students in overseas and domestic educational institutions.

The successful candidate will be working alongside the GSB International Team on the aforementioned initiatives and other duties as deemed appropriate.

Other requirements include occasional flexibility to work long days, weekends and international travel; a driver’s license and eligibility to hold a valid passport and gain entry to foreign countries.

Job Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in a post-secondary education setting and:

  • A service oriented outlook and approach to the work
  • Excellent public speaking skills and the ability to make effective recruitment presentations to large groups of people
  • The ability to work well as part of a specialized and motivated team and to work effectively with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community;
  • The ability to, at times, work largely independently and take on a leadership role for special projects
  • Other requirements include occasional flexibility to work long days, weekends and domestic and international travel
  • Eligibility to hold a valid passport and gain entry to foreign countries.

 An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Knowledge requirements include:

  • Social Media platforms, their respective participants and how each platform can be optimally deployed in different scenarios
  • Working knowledge of office software, technology based communications and student records databases
  • Understanding of secondary and post-secondary education systems in Canada and targeted countries in Asia, SE Asia, the Americas and Europe (experience in other regions considered an asset)
